The exhibition, entitled “undulation”, is about change, movement, and motion. Perspectives change from above to below, traveling inwardly, and capturing the observable.
I live on a farm in rural Indiana, drawing inspiration from the surrounding fields from my studio on the second floor of my1860's farmhouse. The paintings reflect the varying seasons:
the wind in the trees and fields; the movement of wildlife; and the rain or snow falling and accumulating on the ground.
Carved lines in the wet paint on the canvas capture the outlines of trees, the shapes of growing plants, the patterns of the wind, and clouds gusting across the sky. Lines and vibrant color express what I feel about what I see. I believe painting is about the collision of colors, of which there are endless options, and this is reflected in my work.
