About
Vivid was founded by two friends who recognized that the North Shore would welcome a different kind of art gallery. Vivid opened its doors in October 2016, with the mission of providing a more engaging gallery experience.
We provide an environment where art is a conversation—so whether you come in to find a painting for over your mantle or just stop in to see what’s new, we want you to leave with a little more knowledge and a lot more excitement than you did when you came in. You’ll always be greeted with a warm welcome, clearly marked prices, and a sincere invitation to browse. We look forward to helping you find artwork you will be thrilled with for years to come!
We also offer expert art consulting services for all types of collectors, from those purchasing for the first time to experienced buyers.
The Gallery
Exhibiting works by more than 20 artists every day gives customers the ability to “gallery hop” in one location. A large inventory of work stored in the back of the gallery ensures that multiple pieces by each artist are available to view. Vivid exhibits an expanded selection of works by a featured artist each month, with its popular “First Friday” art openings providing a place where artists and collectors can connect.
Vivid offers an eclectic mix of styles and media, specializing in contemporary American painting, works on paper, and ceramics. Our artists range from emerging to late career. Many are local, and most are from the Midwest. This gives us the opportunity to form strong relationships and visit them in their studios. In addition, they are available to meet with their collectors, creating a more rewarding art purchasing experience for both.
Vivid Art Gallery is located in the Hubbard Woods Design District of Winnetka, on the northeast corner of Tower Road and Green Bay Road. You can’t miss our ever-changing display windows! We are open Tuesday through Saturday, 11-5, and by appointment.
Owner and curator Cynthia Burr has a BA in Economics from Northwestern University, an MBA from the University of Michigan and finance and marketing experience in major corporations. She ran her own consulting business for a number of years, and was very involved in project management in the non-profit world. But art has always been her passion, whether making it or collecting it. Putting her business experience to work in an art-centric endeavor is a dream come true!
